Hot springs that have been popular for a long time
Kawaji Onsen is a hot spring resort nestled in a gorge where the Kinugawa and Ogagawa rivers merge. It is said to have been established during the Edo period. It has long been a popular hot spring inn for travelers passing through the Aizu-Nishi Highway.
The spring water is an alkaline simple spring. It is said to be effective for neuralgia, rheumatism, and especially injuries, and is known as "Kawaji for wounds, Taki (Kinugawa) for burns."
Our inn offers four baths in total : " Moonlight - Men's Bath" and "Moondrop - Women's Bath," each with an indoor and outdoor bath . Please enjoy the free-flowing hot spring water, which is around 43°C.
Onsen Shrine
If you climb the slope behind our inn, you will find the Onsen Shrine.
In August 1723, when Lake Ikarigawa collapsed, Kawaji Onsen was discovered and the head office was founded.
This is a charming shrine surrounded by a bamboo grove.
